I spent some time last week updating the website. We moved to a new web host and I took that opportunity to go through the WordPress back-end and get rid of a lot of the bloat, plugins and accumulation that occurs over a 15 year period! Now we’re lean and mean with a much cleaner tech stack.
I also wanted to make sure that the site is as privacy-respecting for visitors as possible. Right now the only external service we’re using is Videopress to host the videos, so that visitors get a clean, fast, ad-free experience. Even on that front, I’m looking into if there are more privacy-respecting alternatives that would work better for video hosting. I also got rid of the contact form on our /contact page, so that we no longer receive any data that way. If you’re interested, you can read the updated privacy policy. I tried to make it readable and short.
I’m also going to attempt writing more often on here. I get wrapped up in the filming and editing, and I don’t put a lot of time into documenting what I’m thinking about while doing the work or what I’m inspired about. Over the past year, I’ve started keeping a journal regularly and it’s been an eye-opening and calming experience. So now I’m wanting to document the thoughts around the work a little more. Who knows, I may change my mind again and decide that there’s nothing worth writing about. For now, I think there is. I’ll check in occasionally. Until then, thanks for reading.
